Pankaj Gupta

Batch of 1989 · Production Engineering

Pankaj Gupta

Punjab Engineering College, 1985 to 1989. Twenty-two years at NBC Bearings — three hundred products out of its R&D, then the room where the company was decided. His own works since 2012, now four plants and a research centre across India, China, Indonesia and Vietnam. And, somewhere in all of it, the archive you are reading.

The professional journey

Forty years, in three movements.

  1. 1985 – 1989

    Student

    Punjab Engineering College

BE in Production Engineering. His own batch's souvenir is one of the books in this archive.

  2. 1990 – 2012

    Employee

    National Engineering Industries

Twenty-two years at NBC Bearings: eighteen in R&D developing 300 new products and bringing in Japanese processes, then Executive Assistant to the President & CEO — forming a profit centre turning over ₹400 crore a year — and finally Head of Supply Chain, opening sourcing across Turkey, Germany, China, Korea and Japan.

  3. 2012 – present

    Entrepreneur

    Aashita Enterprises

Left to start his own: a bearing-ring manufacturer in Jaipur and a China sourcing practice beside it, since grown into four plants and a research centre. This archive is part of the same stretch — the souvenirs were paper in a few cupboards until they were scanned and given a search box.

Life at PEC

Twelve prints he kept — hostel rooms, the lawns, a shopfront in Sector 17, the whole batch on the grass. Nobody wrote a date or a name on the back of any of them, so none is captioned here.

His batch is in here too

The 1989 souvenir is one of the volumes on this site, printed while he was still in the hostel it was made in.
